Costume sale

It is no secret that I love a bargain and shopping at flea markets and am always on the lookout for new opportunities. Yesterday I got an e-mail from the Royal Theater in Copenhagen announcing that they will be selling our costumes today and tomorrow.
The picture below is from My Fair Lady and I would assume it is the scene from the Ascot, maybe I will find another crazy hat! Mr. and I are going there together after work today.
Next week it is time again as Designers Remix are having another of their biannual popup outlets, I can really recommend it as one can purchase items in silk and cashmere for very competitive prices.

Lisa's babyshower

My little brother is having a baby, it feels somewhat strange to say that. A Sunday afternoon in the beginning of August we had a babyshower for her in Helsingborg hosted by Emma.

Havannah and her father were to evacuate the premises but she was happy anyway.
All of a sudden, before most guests had arrived, Lisa showed up rather confused. My brother had told her they were going for dinner but all of a sudden he dropped her off, told her to go to Emma because he had to do something and just drove off.
It is not easy to take your shoes off when you have a big belly, now she is almost due!
My brother will appreciate this picture because he wants a second child.
We had decided to have a theme for the shower which was 'high tea', so everyone was wearing pretty summer dresses.

Scones and finger food, then cupcakes and macaroons.

Then time for presents, they did not want to know the sex of their child so they got plenty of blankets and other practical gifts.

It was a nice summer evening, and  I am glad she was happy with her shower, it is still a rather new concept her in Scandinavia, but we are skipping the baby games.

The Confessions of a Bibliophile - The Fountainhead

This spring I read a classic from 1949: The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, and it is no doubt the most fascinating book I have read so far this year.

The novel is about Howard Roark, is an individualistic young architect who chooses to struggle in obscurity rather than compromise his artistic and personal vision. Rand stated that the primary theme of The Fountainhead was "individualism versus collectivism, not in politics but within a man's soul."
Rand used architecture as an analogy for her ideas regarding individualism, as it served to concretize her beliefs that the individual is of supreme value, she also states that selfishness, properly understood as ethical egoism, is a virtue.

Roark's buildings as described by Rand were mesmerizing and I later discovered that they were inspired by the work of Frank Lloyd Wright who  were an outstanding architect well ahead of his time, below is Fallingwater, a residence designed designed in the 1930s.

Sailing Saturday

Saturday did not have great weather to offer and just before lunch we set the tent up as some rain was falling. It is rather cozy to talk to good friends and hear the rain smatter on the tent cloth.

It cleared up during the afternoon and we found Tjärö, the island where we were to stay. We also borrowed a canoe that we would need to get back and forth to the boat.

The coolest family with the cutest kids.

We tried our best to freshen up a bit before going to the restaurant, not easy when the sea is your shower and all the clothes your brought are more or less dirty already. Love the kimono Margaret is wearing here, it is the one from H&M Exclusive Conscious Collection, wish I had gotten that one, so beautiful.
Tjärö is a proper Astrid Lindgren idyll, it felt stereotypically Swedish.

A very strange group photo but that is the one I have.
Iggy almost wett himself with excitement over this old tractor.

Ted found a rock formation that was amazing in the dark, and we could play some more with fire.

Sailing Friday

Finally the move is complete and we are doing our best to get everything sorted, and on Friday we are heading to Helsinki. Time to show some pictures of our sailing trip in the end of July.
Thursday night we stayed at Ted's parents' house in Karlshamn, we went to a wood-fired sauna in the middle of the forest and were swimming in a lake in the dark, it was great. Friday morning we started with breakfast before heading to the marina.
So great to see these cuties again!
Our boat, amazing how many people and how much packing you can fit onto such a small area.

Our captain Ted and Trine visiting from California.
Eating candy with Juniper.

We found a nice island in the archipelago and set up camp.

Collecting firewood.

Eating marshmallows.

Playing with fire.
