H&M Exclusive Conscience Collection

I guess no one missed the new H&M Exclusive Conscience Collection to be launched in selected stores in two weeks? I immediately fell in love with the first dress I spotted as shown earlier on the blog here, but seeing the entire collection there might be better options. Here are my top three of the collection:

The Confessions of a Bibliophile - Anna Karenina

I have already mentioned how much I enjoy the Russian classics and as a new film based on Anna Karenina was on its way I thought it was time to revisit this beloved tragedy about the socialite Anna Karenina and her love affair with Count Vronsky.
The story is especially interesting due to the illustration of the different treatment of men and women, in the start of the book Anna Karenina arrives in the midst of a family broken up by her brother's womanising, and Anna is later treated with much less tolerance by others compared to her brother. Anna is shunned, becoming further isolated and anxious, while her lover Vronsky is free to pursue his social life.

If you have not read the book I would highly recommend it, and I am yet to find a film that gives it justice. I watched Anna Karenina on the flight on my way home from California, I must admit I am not a fan of Joe Wright although this was one of his better attempts at a classic. Jude Law and Keira Knightley were excellent, but my favourite part of the film was still the sartorial aspects and the Oscar for Best Costume was well deserved.

Silence on this end, the winter managed a comeback with not one but several smaller snowstorms. I usually love snow, but by now I am fed up and decided to hibernate.
By mid-March there should be spring, yet we are still wearing winter coats and boots in order to fight off the minus degrees and the wind creeping through our woollen layers.

What is more, it causes still more uninspiring outfits where warmth takes precedence over beauty so I will have to get back with vanities later. However, my hibernation has given me plenty of time to read and watch films, so at least there will be more of that coming.

And hopefully, soon there will be spring, with any luck after the blizzard predicted this afternoon!

Shopping Paris

It was a while ago now, but I realised that I have not yet showed my shopping from Paris yet.
Friday was spent in town so I visited Agent Provocateur and MAC, but that did not result in something worth showing here.
Saturday I visited vintage stores around Marais, the best bargain was this gorgeous, vintage fur-collar. I still feel very dubious about buying fur, but somehow justify it to myself when it's vintage as I detest the modern fur industry.
I was out a bit early Saturday morning and started in COS mostly to warm up and ended up buying minimalistic jewelry which is relatively new to me, but I love those bracelets and the hairclips in bright colours.
In Kiliwatch I found some scarfs in the French colours and a navy sweater for Mr., I love the military surplus! and on my way home from dinner also a hat in beret-shape.
Sunday I headed to the flea market in Porte du Vanves and finally got my hands on a lovely camé broach, I have been looking for camés for a while, now I just need to figure how to wear broaches without feeling like an old lady. I also found a vintage fan, which I am sure will come in handy in Australia and cute, old fashioned stamps, I bought my initials as well as a cat to symbolise me and a kangaroo to symbolise Mr.

Sail away

It feels as if spring has finally arrived and I have been too busy to keep up with the blog.
This week we have also started to sketch our summer holiday plans, which seems that they will include chartering a boat to sail the Mediterranean sea with friends and maybe a visit to London or Ukraine to meet up with some friends visiting from down under.

I have never spend a whole week on a boat before but it sounds very relaxing, I am also considering to impose a dresscode consisting of stripes, I think that would make quite a sight.
