Chateauneuf-du-Pape

We finally arrived at our destination late Saturday afternoon, Chateauneuf-du-Pape is a tiny medieval city but the centre of a rather famous winegrowing region and as luck would have it  there was a wine festival that weekend.

Ari had wished to visit Chateauneuf-du-Pape for years so he was rather excited and must have taken hundred of photos of vines and wines.

We purchased glasses for €3.50 which allowed us to sample wine all over the festival and we went off to discover new favourites.

The chateau itself was unfortunately bombed by Germans in WWII and only a wall remains on the top of the hill, but the basement was still intact and housing yet another wine shop.
